Studio safety and the proper use of a glass torch get you making your first glass creations. Learn about the different types of glass, color mixing and basic forming techniques. Learn to use borosilicate glass, otherwise known as Pyrex glass. Starting with 3 Dimensional shapes we will learn to use hot glass, the foundation of studies for making glass sculpture.
Learn how to cast a glass box and lid using frit. Students will learn how to prime molds, create frit mixtures, and fill their molds. Other frit casting molds, branches, flowers, butterflies, etc will be discussed. No glass cutting skills necessary.

This is an informative, fun and rewarding introduction to the basics of Fused Glass Art for all artistic levels. We will talk about several different processes including glass compatibility, studio safety, fusing temperatures and glass cutting. Your class projects include 2 full fused and 2 tack fused pendants, a 4x4 bowl and a 5x8 tray. Be ready to have a good time, be creative and make some glass art for yourself, family or friends. Class completion gives the student access to the schools Open Studio time.

Learn about the different types of glass and color mixing. Each student will shape molten glass into round, square, triangle, squished, barrel and swooshy bead shapes. Students will make about a dozen beads.
